Why Agency Matters More Than a Sale

My very first blog post is about a subject near to my heart. It is a subject that brokers, agents, and consumers do not always understand. In my opinion, it is the most important factor when deciding who you hire.
One thing I wish more people understood in real estate is agency.
Not the company name. Not the logo. Not who has the biggest signs.
I mean who is truly in your corner.
A lot of people think real estate is just showing houses, signing papers, and getting to closing. But if you ask me, it should be so much more than that.
When you hire an agent, you are trusting someone with one of the biggest decisions of your life. For some people, this is their savings, their kids’ future, their fresh start, or the home they plan to grow old in.
That matters.
And because it matters, who represents you matters.
A good agent is not just there when things are easy. They should be willing to have hard conversations, explain things you don’t understand, protect your best interests, and sometimes even tell you the truth when it is not the easiest thing to hear.
Real estate should never feel like someone is just trying to get to the next commission check.
The best agents I know care about the relationship more than the transaction.
I truly believe homeownership means something different to everybody. To some, it is stability. To others, it is freedom, family, hope, or a fresh start. That is why I take agency seriously — because people deserve someone who is actually looking out for them.
So if you are ever interviewing an agent, ask questions.
Ask them what agency means to them.
Ask them who they represent.
Ask them how they protect their clients when things get hard.
Because at the end of the day, you deserve more than someone opening doors.
You deserve someone in your corner.
